Career opportunities for Young MBAs in Today’s corporate world - Symposium at IIPM Bhubaneshwar15/11/2010 On 26th June 2010, 4Ps Club of IIPM Bhubaneshwar organized a symposium on the topic, “Career opportunities for Young MBAs in Today’s corporate world”. The guests for the event were Dr. Saroj Kumar Mahapatra - Senior General Manager HR, POSCO India Ltd, Mr. Binod Gopal Mukherjee, Zonal Head Religare Securities and Prof. T.K. Chatterjee who played the role of moderator in the entire event. Both the speakers had stressed on the core importance of the marketing vertical of their respective industries. Dr. Mahapatra emphasized on special importance of B2B marketing process and the careers associated with it where as Mr. Mukherjee threw some more light on how challenging the careers in B2C marketing process are, taking Broking industry as a special case. Keeping in tune with the FIFA World Cup, IIPM Mumbai organized the Aurobindo Chaudhuri Memorial Football tournament on the 25th of June 2010.The students played with a lot of zeal and put their best foot forward. The heavy showers didn’t deter the players from their game and they continued to remain focused.The tournament also witnessed enthusiastic soccer fans from IIPM Mumbai cheering on as they watched their friends play. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The students of IIPM Mumbai were taken for an industrial visit to BSE (Bombay Stock Exchange) on the 24th of June 2010. They were shown a BSE Corporate Film and thereafter were enlightened on the Function of Exchange through a presentation.
During this visit, the students also acquired knowledge about the stock exchange structure, its process & procedures and products traded on it, various training programs and certification exams related to the capital market. Also the wide list of training programs help enhance the students knowledge about the capital market and also provides them with a certificate that will help them in advancing their career. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For all those people who thought that a cricket tournament can only happen on huge grounds with multiple players…Picture this…As a part of the Torque club, IIPM Ahmedabad organized a cricket tournament in the college canteen with 5 players aside. These matches were real fun to watch as players from both the genders played in one team!!! IIPM’s philosophy of thinking beyond starts to hold so true!!! The thrills, frills and all the fun of the fair was made available for the audience in the crowd who were just like pop corn on fire!!! On 19th June 2010, Finex Club of IIPM Bhubaneshwar organized a panel discussion on the topic, Corporate Governance- The Indian Scenario. The guests for the event were Mr. Santosh Kumar Mohapatra , CEO- Dhamra Port Company Limited (a 50:50 joint venture of L&T and Tata Steel), Mr. Ashok Kumar panda, Head-IF&IT- Orissa Computer Application Centre and Prof. Vijaya Bhatt, who played the role of moderator in the entire event. The panel discussed about the various issues of corporate governance like role of independent director, whistle blowing, clause 49 and many more. GIDF club of IIPM Bhubaneshwar in association with Red Cross Blood Bank has organized a blood donation camp on 19th June Saturday at its campus. The camp was a great success as more than 50 students and staff of IIPM Bhubaneshwar donated their blood. Date 16th June 2010 PHD Chambers and IIPM as their Knowledge Partner organized a workshop on “How to export” on 16th June 2010 at IIPM Auditorium. The workshop was attended by Government Officials, Bankers, and representatives from Industry’s, Exporters, and Academia, representatives from Media and Management students. Mr Piyush Shukla from Uttar Pradesh Export Promotion Board laid the guidelines for export procedure, the regulatory requirements and export planning and management. Mr Shukla also mentioned about the assistance that an exporter can get through Export Promotion Council and State Level Bankers’ Committee (SLBC). His session was followed by Mr Ashok Khanna, Chief Manager (SBI) who stressed on SBI being a partner to every exporter, he also highlighted on the need based scheme for every exporter. Finally the session was concluded by Prof. Amlan Ray, Dean IIPM-Lucknow. Prof. Ray directed the attention of the audience towards the macroeconomic perspective of International Trade, from changes in India’s share in foreign trade over a period of time to issues like dumping and effects of subsidies to farmers in developed countries. The workshop enabled the audience to have a better understanding towards export and also how to plan the export business. IIPM Mumbai bid farewell to the batch of PGP 2008-2010/FW and E-MBA 2009-2010 by organizing a bash at the Peninsula Grand Hotel in Mumbai. As we all know that biding goodbye is hard, but IIPM Mumbai ensured that it was memorable. The farewell party started off with the Award Ceremony whereby students who excelled both in academics as well as in extra curricular activities were awarded with certificates and prizes. The Director’s Gold was awarded to Disha Dhawan by Dean Prof. Shouvick Dutta for outstanding performance both academically and in extra – curricular activities. Faculties who made an outstanding contribution towards shaping and molding the students were awarded as well. The faculties who were awarded were, Prof. M.P. Rege, Prof. Leslie Rebello, Prof. Souvik Banerjee, Prof. Madhusudan Sohani, Prof. Shubho Shekhar Bhattacharya, Prof. B.K. Nair, Prof. Smita V Kumar, Prof. Nikhil Rao, Prof. Venkat Iyer and Prof. V. Chandrashekhar. After the award ceremony the students burned the dance floor, swinging to the music and celebrating. There was endless music, masti, shutterbugs clicking snaps and of course the grand array of food that made the evening perfect.
