On the evening of 28th October 2010, at the renowned Sangeet Natak Academy, IIPM Lucknow once again carried on the tradition of celebrating its annual cultural festival “AAGMAN-2010”

“AAGMAN” as the name suggests means welcome. It’s a cultural extravaganza wherein the first year students get the opportunity to showcase their talents before an audience compromising of students and faculty.

The evening began with the traditional Saraswati Vandana dance which was followed by a duet and solo singing performances. The students of BBA batch then performed “Cinderella In Bollywood” a comedy version of the classic Cinderella story presented with several Hindi songs and comic punches from Bollywood movies. The evening was then startled with a Rocking performance by the Rock band, which made the entire crowd sway to their tunes. It was now time to get a little pensive, probably a trip down memory lane, time to hum soft melodies with the IIPM band as they transferred you to another world with their music. It was a warm up session with classics like pal, Summer of 69, to name a few, even “Summer of 69” a rock number, felt like silence before the storm.- the peppy  Fusion dance.

Executive communication at IIPM is one of the most coveted and sought after subject. Through EXCOM students explore a new foray of communication. In the process the students are sprinted through a series of activities which test their body language, team building and leadership skills. These exercises spark up their interests and eventually enhance their overall persona.

On 3rd August 2010 , the IIPMites of Lucknow were exposed to an enthralling presentation on “ Brand War”- Pizza hut vs Dominos conducted by the students of UG/FW/09-11, under the guidance of their  EXCOM faculty Mr. Ali Mustafa Rizvi . Preparation for this event had begun a week in advance and the campus was bustling with posters and other promotional campaigns of the respective brands.

An excellent promotional approach followed by a thorough professional yet entertaining presentation marked the end of this week long affair. The audience which included the students, faculties and employees from both the brands, gave an overwhelming response.

As the wings of economic liberalization spread, it encompasses in itself the globalization of Indian Economy, eliminating political boundaries and providing immense opportunities in a world wide scenario. Infrastructural development, healthcare and quality education, are spelled as the top priorities for a global India.

Thus, to further strengthen globalization and internationalization, IIPM Lucknow in collaboration with AIESEC Lucknow and SANMARG Events organized a seminar on “Global Exchange” on 27th July 2010. Student representatives from different nations (China, Russia, USA, Japan, Indonesia, and UK) took part in the event.

At the Exchange programme each of these individuals showcased their culture to everybody present while putting together an event that helped everyone to gain international perspective, learn about new cultures and help increase the cultural sensitivity among people.

The most mesmerizing part of the event was when IIPM students and the foreign student representatives got together to dance on a Punjabi number.

“Time to check your pool skills …. If you are smart enough take a chance”

Some kind of change and physical fitness is needed for students after the rigorous class schedules and mental exercise, thus this time the Torque club of IIPM, Lucknow organized the POOL CHAMPIONSHIP in the
campus on 20th July 2010. Teams from various sections across batches participated to win the title.

The event started with an environment of enthusiasm. As the energy levels increased and all the participants were ready to swing, they formulated various strategies in order to defend themselves and rise up as a winner all through out. This event was very engaging for the participants as well as the viewers as everyone was engrossed in the game. Event started with knockout round.

Among all the participants Om Pandey from PGP/SS/10-12 and Bhawani Singh from UGP/FW/09-12 were amongst the finalist. At the End, Bhawani Singh emerged as the winner and claimed the title.

IIPM Lucknow in association with Young Force had the privilege of hosting Mr, Vinay Pratap Singh the Cluster Head (UP) of Radio Mirchi on campus. He talked about the careers in Media, various profiles available for fresh management graduates. He emphasized on the skill set required in media and explained this with the role of professionals in Radio Mirchi

On the later part the workshop analyzed the thought process behind the most creative advertisements and included the mental math that most advertisers used. Mr. Singh highlighted that most good advertisements tell a story and the ads which become memorable are the ones with a simple and engaging truth in them. “Every ad is an opportunity for the consumer to marry the brand”

With the marketing bunch in the audience aware of the strong nexus that marketers and advertisers have, questions on media and advertising flowed freely.

Having got a taste of the media sector from a person of Mr. Singh’s stature the students were left longing for more. The session ended with great applause and appreciation for Mr. Singh, who was very happy that students were taking keen interest in Media as a career, quite against the traditional norm. The session definitely gave the students an in-depth insight on a new field.

Music, Fun, Laughter and a rocking theme to add to it! PGP (10-12)/ SS & UGP (10-13)/SS witnessed the biggest & the most happening party at the voguish disc “Zero Degree” on 12th July 2010. IIPM, Lucknow hosted Moonwalk 2010 with a vivid “Retro Theme". The venue was filled with joy and color. 

As the festivity picked on the Mr. Fresher & Ms. Fresher contest results were given away. Mr. Amlan Ray, Dean IIPM Lucknow welcomed the batch and disclosed the names of the winners.  Mr. Sagar Shukla & Miss Reema Chatlani of PGP (10-12)/SS were awarded as Mr. Fresher & Ms. Fresher respectively. The party continued as the students hit the dance floor once again.

Impressions are critical in creating the right impact. They make the deciding difference between success and failure.

The impact of our appearance, postures, and manners is as strong if not more than that of our skills, expertise and competency. People inadvertently form their first impressions in less than five minutes of the meeting on the basis of general body language and our ability to project ourselves. In social as well as professional work situations, inevitably, packaging and etiquette is the only visible and available means of evaluating others.

With liberalization and globalization bringing in a train of new business opportunities involving overseas partnerships, joint ventures and tie-ups, there is an urgent need for Indian Managers to familiarize themselves with diverse cultures and their social decorum.

Bearing this need the Rhetorix Club at IIPM Lucknow organized a workshop on Corporate Power Dressing. The workshop was conducted by the known fashion designer Asma Hussain, who emphasized on the importance of dressing in the colorful corporate world to ensure casual and stylish flair. Asma Hussain also highlighted the key aspects of formal dressing by an elaborate presentation. It was a good educational experience for the students who were left clamoring and mesmerized

PHD Chambers and IIPM as their Knowledge Partner organized a workshop on “How to export” on 16th June 2010 at IIPM Auditorium. The workshop was attended by Government Officials, Bankers, and representatives from Industry’s, Exporters, and Academia, representatives from Media and Management students.


Mr Piyush Shukla from Uttar Pradesh Export Promotion Board laid the guidelines for export procedure, the regulatory requirements and export planning and management. Mr Shukla also mentioned about the assistance that an exporter can get through Export Promotion Council and State Level Bankers’ Committee (SLBC). His session was followed by Mr Ashok Khanna, Chief Manager (SBI) who stressed on SBI being a partner to every exporter, he also highlighted on the need based scheme for every exporter.

Finally the session was concluded by Prof. Amlan Ray, Dean IIPM-Lucknow. Prof. Ray directed the attention of the audience towards the macroeconomic perspective of International Trade, from changes in India’s share in foreign trade over a period of time to issues like dumping and effects of subsidies to farmers in developed countries.

The workshop enabled the audience to have a better understanding towards export and also how to plan the export business. The workshop was followed by Q & A session in which IIPM students participated actively.

Economic times, IFEN and IIPM all believe in the concept of an edge in awareness and the canny ability to reach the issues which lie beyond textbooks. To help students gain this critical edge IIPM Lucknow  organized a workshop on Effective communication and leadership skills on 11th June 2010. The workshop was executed by Mr Abhijeet Bhattacharya (Chief Training Manager- IFEN). Mr Bhattacharya has total 19 years of work experience with 14 years of expertise in corporate training.

He has designed and introduced innovative and very effective training programs on Customer Relationship Management for leading Customer Care Center in Country and has conducted various programs to enhance the skill set of employees at work which includes - Communication Skills, Motivation, Self development, Team Building and Leadership skills.

Mr. Bhattacharya made this 2 hours session extremely interesting for all the students of IIPM. He discussed all the aspects of communication, making us understand the aspects that should be given high priority while communicating. He also highlighted leadership qualities of leaders from the sports & corporate world.
